Welcome to Black Bear Bakery!

Environmental sustainability, neighborhood support, as well as quality, local, and organic ingredients are at the center of Black Bear Bakery's mission. Black Bear bakes the famous Lickhalter rye breads, around St. Louis since 1916, as well as a selection of organic whole grain breads. Since 1998 Black Bear Bakery has been a worker-owned collective. We are dedicated to being a different kind of work place that allows its participants to be at the center of a worker-controlled environment. Black Bear is also proud to have community involvement and grassroots agitation at the very core of our mission.
